But that's all for nought if ultimately I can't access the content I used to create it all.Soo one day i was going to open origin just like normal and it came up with this message VCRUNTIME140.dll so i said oh okay ill just uninstall it and install it again but when i clicked the uninstall program it didnt it came up with the same message VCRUNTIME140.dll missing after that i restarted my computer and tried and it still didnt worked so i went to my windows settings and said ill delete it from there and when i clicked uninstall suprise it didnt worked soo i was really pissed soo being the intelligent person i am i just did what i used to do when i was 7 and delete the hole origin file remotely and now when i try to reinstall it program comes with the same problem so i searched it and i downloaded VCRUNTIME140.dll and put it to my windows folder and i realised i have this dll already soo i didnt get why its refusing to install origin i havent seen any other launcher have this problem. I myself have hundreds of homes and families I have uploaded, too. I feel some of the pain others have felt in losing their save files and worlds - except for the things they had uploaded to their gallery. Perhaps before this happens we might actually see some of The Sims 5 action. Moving across to the EA App, then, is something I was hesitant to do until absolutely necessary, and so others suggestion to hold off until absolutely necessary is the advice I'll be following.
This was incredibly frustrating, and after 5 uninstalls and re-downloads (I'm a slow learner.), I eventually twigged that the EA App was the culprit, so I uninstalled the EA App altogether, did a clean sweep, and followed the suggestion made in the original post above. I can't remember now what happened next, but what I noticed was that when I ran the EA App, it only recognised the packs it had downloaded, while when I ran Steam, Steam couldn't access any of the packs the EA App had downloaded. I was initially very pleased, as it would make life a LOT easier having to only run the 1 app.īut when I loaded my game, I discovered a few packs were missing, so I downloaded Steam, which found my other packs, then downloaded them.
Origin app download#
I downloaded The Sims, and I THOUGHT it had downloaded ALL of my DLC, as it was quite an extensive download time. At first I thought this was a rebrand, as I'd been aware they were going to do this for some time. Here's where it goes bad: I installed Origin first, except it was the EA App. Just before Christmas, I bought myself my own machine finally, which is set up downstairs.
Origin app Pc#
I used to play on the PC upstairs, where I was playing through Steam, with Origin running in the background. Thank you to everyone who has responded so far. I am going to reach out to EA and see possibly what could have happened.
Origin app software#
I never touched those files let alone put them in the recycle bin. (Credit: EA) After 11 years, EA is ready to replace the Origin games distribution software on PC with a brand new platform known simply as the EA app. Somehow over 22,000 files from more than just the game was going to be deleted. I'm just so glad that I caught what I did. For me, when they deleted Origin to move over to EA it was like my computer was doing the same. There were a few things left in it but nothing about my creations. I don't know if in those few seconds when it started deleting if it happened to delete the tray files. I hit the button then saw it had thousands of file in the bin that I never put in there. When I was switching over I decided I was going to go through my recycle bin and clean it out. I have all of my other files with no problems.
Origin app mods#
What do you see when you look in your Electronic Arts folder for the game? Changing to the EA App wouldn't delete those folders with your Saves, Tray and Mods (if any) EA might not be detecting things properly, but I doubt very much that all those folders aren't still there.Įverything works fine except for that one issue. I'm so bummed that I am thinking of quitting for good. Many things that were dear to me I had not put in the gallery as of yet. Here’s where you can also change any other Origin In-Game settings you’d. Toggle the On/Off switch to turn Origin In-Game on or off. Click the Origin menu and select Application Settings. The only thing I can get access to is what I posted on the gallery. Enable Origin In-Game and get the most out of your gaming experience: Open the Origin client and log into your EA Account.
